Strongsville Gum Disease Treatment & Prevention
Periodontal Therapy - Ultrasonic Cleaning & More

Gum disease is caused by a number of factors, and when left untreated, can be hazardous not only to your oral health, but the health of your body at large. At the Strongsville Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, Dr. Weiser and team are dedicated to treating gum disease and educating you on the hazard that it represents to your general health.

Identifying Risks

Our office not only focuses on potential habits which may contribute to gum disease, but the factors which are out of your control such as family history or medications.

When checking your susceptibility to gum disease, we collect a sample of your saliva. This allows us to test your DNA, and thereby determine whether you possess a genetic predisposition to suffer from periodontal disease, as well as any factors you may be subject to if you are pregnant or suffer from diabetes. For those who are more of less susceptible to gum disease, the team watch for symptoms including:

  • Inflamed and reddened gums
  • Bleeding from the gums
  • Gum sensitivity
  • Receded gums
  • Chronic bad breath

Treating gum disease is essential in preserving not only your oral hygiene, but your bodily health as well. Bacteria present in gum disease have been linked to systemic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and stroke when entering the bloodstream through irritated gums. Dr. Weiser and staff are members of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health and stay abreast of the latest medical research involved in understanding the connection between gum disease and overall systemic health.

Modern Tools for Comprehensive Care

We use modern equipment with technical software such as the Florida Probe® when diagnosing our patients. This tool not only allows for a more accurate diagnosis, but enables us to more comprehensively educate you as a patient, and share the details of your oral health and possible treatments.

The Florida Probe® will help us to identify not only the best course of treatment for you, but to help you understand what these treatments target as we involve you in the planning process.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

For gum disease patients, our office offers scaling and root planing using top of the line ultrasonic hand pieces. These non-surgical ultrasonic cleanings removes the highest amount of plaque and tartar from your teeth with the lowest possible risk to the affected area.
